Dr. Luz S. Marin

Luz Stella Marin is an associate professor in the Department of Safety Sciences at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Occupational Ergonomics and Safety.

She worked as a Safety Engineer for over ten years in Colombia. During the last 12 years, she has conducted research studies to evaluate the safety conditions of workers in low-income jobs in high-risk industries such as the construction sector. She has conducted research studies to evaluate ergonomics risk factors among hotel housekeepers, occupational exposure to whole-body vibration in the mining industry, safety climate in the construction, and workplace sexual harassment among Hispanic women in low-income jobs.

She has collaborated with colleagues from Mexico to evaluate risk perception among college students in chemistry laboratories.

This session will focus on the prevention of violence and harassment in the workplace, including international legislative developments, case studies, and tools for prevention and return to work.
