Martina Hesse-Spötter has been engaged at the German Statutory Accident Insurance Institution for the energy, textile, electrical and media products sectors (BG ETEM) since 1993. After studying law, she worked initially in the areas of Press and Public Relations and in the Human Resources area. Currently, she is the Director of the District Administration for Compensation and Rehabilitation of the BG ETEM.

In 2000, she began her international work as Secretary General of the Electricity Section of the International Social Security Association (ISSA). In 2017, she was elected President of the ISSA Electricity Section. In the same year, she became the new Chairperson of the ISSA Special Commission on Prevention, which coordinates the activities of the 14 ISSA Prevention Sections.

Mrs Hesse-Spötter, as President of the ISSA Electricity Section, together with the ISSA Information Section, is the main organizer of the International Media Festival for Prevention, which has been held every three years since 1990 in the framework of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. The aim of this festival is to demonstrate that successful prevention work requires good communication, to which outstanding media can contribute significantly.

International Media Festival for Prevention
The International Media Festival for Prevention will present a 5 minute-video moderated by Martina Hesse-Spötter, Chair of the International Social Security Association Special Commission on Prevention and President of the International Social Security Association Electricity Section, which will summarize the festival’s submissions phase, the jury work and what is coming next. It will also address on how the postponement of the World Congress, due to the pandemic, will has affected the development of the Festival. The video will also include highlights from the International Media Festival for Prevention 2017, the official invitation to the Special Media Session at the World Congress in Toronto in September 2021, and an invitation to the virtual IMFP Short List Announcement on 6 October 2020 at 9:00 am EDT.

ISSA Special Session: International Media Festival for Prevention Short List Announcement

Since 1990, the International Sections of the International Social Security Association for Electricity and on Information for Prevention have been organizing the International Media Festival for Prevention in the framework of the World Congress for Safety and Health at Work, which takes place every three years. And despite the postponement of this year’s World Congress to 19-22 September 2021 in Toronto, the media festival remains an integral part of the main international prevention event.
